Long Run - Taper Time

22 miles 2:36:14 7:06 average per mile
9:00 am) sunny 50's-60's
Last long run before Chicago Marathon in 2 weeks.
I'm glad I got it done but I wasn't feeling it today. Never felt
great or wanted to push hard.
53.5 miles for the week.

Pikes Peak Greenway Tempo

9 miles total 1:00:50
6 miles tempo 6:22 average per mile
5:45 pm) upper 70's warm!
Was pretty hot for a tempo run. Pace was affected by the temps.
Last mile of the tempo was the fastest.

Pony Express

14+ miles 1:50:16
7th place overall.
First time running this low key race. Course runs along the Rampart Reservor
near Woodland Park. Very challenging race with the constant undulating
trail. Also its at 9,000+ feet which is tough right now as I have not been
running above 7,000 ft. all year.
39 miles on the week. Will ramp it back up this week before a 2 week taper.

Pikes Peak Greenway Long Run

20 miles 2:22:16 7:06 average per mile
8:00 am) 50's sunny
Ran 8 miles with the Sunday morning group and last 12 on my own.
Legs felt heavy today. First 20 mile run in 2 months. Will get one more
20 miler in before Chicago. Next Sunday I'm planning on a 15 mile
trail race at 9,000 ft. I look forward to the challenge.

Pikes Peak Greenway Long Run

16 miles 1:48:40 6:47 average per mile
9:25 am) 50's sunny
Good long run.  Fitness is coming around. Still might have a chance at
running well at Chicago marathon in 5 weeks. I plan on two 20 mile long
runs in the next 3 weeks.  Originally Chicago was my A race and was
shooting for a PR. I don't think that's in the cards anymore. Training
has been nowhere near where it needed to be. Injuries suck but it's
part of the risk when pushing your body day in and day out.

Nielson Challenge

2 miles 12:01 6th overall
Only second time doing this monthly race. I last did it in 2011.
I hoped to break 12 but just came up short. I ran 11:39 3 years ago.
I have done very little speed work so not surprised with my time.
Maybe next month I will give it another shot. Fitness should be
much better by then. Long run tomorrow.

Pulpit Rock

5 miles
Nice easy trail run. Enjoyed the day off from work and watched the ADT trail marathon.
