2 mile cool down
These were a bit long as I was running on lane 4 and didn't do a staggered start.
I also had to dodge kids that were on the track.
Heart rate was pretty high on my warm up and cool down but during the workout
couldn't get heart rate out of the 150's.

If you ran 2 full laps in lane 4 the entire way that is longer than 800 meters. How much depends on lane width, but probably closer to 815 meters.

Sorry, I meant 840ish

Thanks GZ! Next time I should adjust I suppose. Plus I had to weave in and out of the kids and parents standing on the track trying to stay in a shady section on the track. This while more kids on the infield playing La Cross. I picked the wrong day to do my second track workout of the year.

GZ any input on my heart rate? I find it to be lower than the average runner. I'm sure everyone is different so it's hard to say.

It could be that you have a lower max. That does not mean anything really. I used to train with a guy who had a max of about the high 160s while in his 30s. He was still kicking my ass at 160 when I was at 190. He ran sub 14:30 for 5k up here.

Anyway, that said, the warm up might give you some false positives if the strap is not appropriately moistened (sweat), or static from a shirt. Not saying that happened here, but it could. I have sometimes seen 200 HRs in my warm up and I just need to discount that.

If you are really interested in what your max is ... there are several tests out there for it. Easiest to describe is probably an all out 800 or mile though. If you can really dig that last lap, you'll get to it.

Is this your first measuring of it? Did you have values significantly higher before if you measured it before?

Check your GPS to see what it said those 2 lap efforts were in meters. Curious if it comes out as 800 meters or closer to 840. That said, GPS are notoriously bad on tracks.

I have used heart rate monitor before and it's always been on the low side. Yes an all out 800 might do it. My only problem I find I get so winded when trying to push it that I have to back off and can't go all out. I think I have poor speed at this time as I have built up a better endurance base than a speed base. Trying to fix that.
