Very happy to finally get a new PR at the half marathon distance. I have not run many
the past 4 years so it has been difficult to get a PR. My PR was from 2009 and at sea
level. My next marathon is in 2 weeks so this was meant to be a good last hard workout
before starting to taper.
Really enjoyed the race and the course was flat and very well marked. I missed first
place by 5 seconds. I was very close to catching the leader but ran out of real estate.
Never felt great during the race. My legs were tired from working and then sitting in
a car for 6 hours. Definitely not ideal for the day before a race. At mile 8 I tried
to pick up the pace as GZ's comment was in my head that I should "make my teeth
sweat the last 5 miles". Thanks GZ for the motivation!
Was nice to get to visit Albuquerque and Santa Fe on this trip. This was my first
time visiting New Mexico. Yesterday ate some good food in Albuquerque thanks to the
half marathon and getting some gift cards. Today we visited Santa Fe and did some
trail running and shopping. Was a great weekend getaway.
Splits from the race.

We ran/hiked this trail. It was steep in spots. Gained around 2,000 ft.

Congrats Brad - that is a smoking time!
Great stuff Brad. Well done and congrats. Now go get the Marathon PR :)
Nice work on the PR! That's fast. Atalaya is my old stomping grounds- your new photo is in front of my alma mater.
Awesome job old man! Woot woot. Nice!
(ps, I stole that saying from Stan Mavis)
Thanks all for the comments.
GZ, It's a great quote even if it's not your quote:)
